My name is Kate Bouchillon and I’ve spent 12 summers up on the mountain at Camp Skyline. I’m a recent Auburn graduate and now work for the Auburn University Rural Health Initiative, where I help expand healthcare access across rural Alabama. I’m also pursuing my Master’s of Public Health at LSU-Shreveport!

What makes Skyline special to you?

Skyline is where I learned how to be myself and truly taught me how to steward God’s gifts that have been given to me.

What is your favorite camp memory?

Many of my favorite memories are in Riverside, either mattress surfing, playing cards, telling stories, having dance parties, or talking about life and God with my campers.

What life skills did you learn at camp?

I learned a variety of skills from playing lacrosse to plunging toilets and even handling wasp invasions. But most importantly, I gained confidence in my own abilities, knowing that no challenge is too great because I trust God has it all under control.

How has Skyline’s mission statement, “Enriching young girls in God, relationships and self”, impacted your life?

As a counselor, I not only helped guide others in their faith and confidence, but I also grew in my own self - learning to trust God more fully, lead with love, and embrace the importance of community. The most meaningful impact we can have is by building others up in faith, friendship, and self-worth.
