New Year and New Excitements
The new year brings new excitement around Camp Skyline. Every January rolls around, surprising me with how quickly the last year flew by. This year 2025 brings a lot of new excitement for my family personally. We just welcomed a new baby girl into our family. Louise was born on January 9. That comes with a lot of excitement as our family grows personally and the Camp Skyline family gains another baby!
Another new excitement around Camp Skyline is another baby, Leanna who works in our front office had a baby girl just in time for Thanksgiving. Lots of new little Skyline Cuties will be around the office soon.
Let’s get to what you want to know about, the new excitements around camp and for the summer. Here are a few things we have in the works for Summer 2025.
The lodge is getting a new shower house! I know the girls who stay in the lodge will enjoy getting their own shower house so the lines will not be as long as the other ones. Below you can see some pictures of the construction for the new shower house.
We are bringing back an old activity this year, Flag and Baton. Girls used to love this activity, and we have hired a girl who twirls for Samford and will be here at camp all summer to teach the class.
This summer each session theme will be a little different. In the first session, we are introducing a new theme called The Skyline Music Festival. This will be where each cabin creates a skit or routine to a specific song from a genre that is picked out by Evan and the cabin will work on this throughout the session until they perform it for all of camp.
Second session will now be color wars, we spend half a day playing a fun game of protect your counselor which consists of obstacles and a lot of color powder before going to the field and all having a color powder fun time.
Our third session will be 4th of July where we celebrate that with a fun carnival, parade, and other games ending with fireworks.
The fourth session will be Christmas in July. Camp will be decorated for Christmas, we will have different fun Christmas things going on during the session. One night we have Santa’s workshop and Sunday morning we wake up with Santa coming to visit.
Another fun excitement around camp is that we have hired our head counselors and also over half our staff for the summer. This group of women are more than excited for the summer and to help teach, shape, and mold all of the amazing campers that step foot onto Skyline this summer. The activities, the campfires, and the fun times of learning about each other will be filled with love from the women we have hired to be counselors this summer.
