Here at Camp Skyline, every session is unique with its own theme and events! If you have never been to camp before, or maybe you are going to attend a new session this year, here are some things you may want to prepare for!
This year, every session will have a dance with Camp Laney! There is one dance theme used for every session and that is… Throwdown for your Hometown!!! You will wear something that will symbolize your hometown. For example, I am from Mentone so I could wear a Mentone Market or Desoto State Park T-Shirt! Or I could go all out and dress as a waterfall or hippie!
Don’t worry, if you are unsure if you want to attend the dance with the smelly boys then you have the option to watch a movie in the Dining Hall!
First Session, the theme is COLOR WARS!!! This is a day that you will travel with your cabin to different obstacle courses around camp! The obstacle courses will all include a powdered paint that will color you head to toe! After the obstacle courses, all campers will end up at Riverside Field and be given a handful of powdered paint to throw in the air! We will take a ton of pictures and have so much fun!
I would be sure to pack white clothes that you don’t mind being stained! White clothes make the paint show up beautifully!

Second Session, the theme is FOURTH OF JULY!!! When we celebrate the Fourth of July, we have a parade and Camp Olympics. Camp Olympics is a series of fun competitions such as rowing, swimming, three legged races, and more!!
For the parade, pack anything red, white, blue, and extravagant! Bust out your patriotic gear! For the Olympics, you can stay patriotic but maybe in more athletic clothes you don’t mind getting wet or dirty.

Third Session, the theme is Christmas in July!!! For Christmas in July we have Santa’s Workshop, and Christmas morning! Santa’s Workshop has Christmas cookies and so many fun crafts and activities! Christmas morning, Santa comes to town with gifts for each cabin!
For Santa’s Workshop you can get all decked out in your Christmas clothing! Santa hats, Reindeer antlers, Christmas sweaters, and all the festive clothing! For Christmas morning we all wear our pajamas! They don’t have to be Christmas pajamas, but can be if you have some!!

Fourth Session, the theme is VMA’s or Video Music Awards!!! For the VMA’s, each cabin will create a music video to be judged and scored and then presented in the gym and given an award for a variety of categories! But this is all after the campers walk the red carpet of course!!
For the VMAs and red carpet, we go all out in our costumes. We have had a variety of guests before such as the Lorax, a swarm of barbies, a few bananas, and so many more funny and unexpected costumes!

We love making every session so special and unique for our campers! Be on the lookout for a full packing list coming to you soon, closer to summer!
