Hello camp families!!! Before I go any further let me say Happy Veterans day and a big THANK YOU to all our veterans everywhere. Your service and dedication is appreciated more than you know.
We’re also thankful for our camp parents. Although we’re honored to see all the daughters that stay with us during the summer, we also get to see every type of parent you can imagine. There are many types of parents that come through the gates on opening day. You get everything from the ones who have been to camp for many years and are eager to drop their daughters off to the parents who may be dropping their daughter off for their first overnight camp experience. Some of these first time camp parents are a bit reluctant and possibly more nervous about camp than their daughter.
For all these parents and every type in between, we are very thankful. Thankful that you gave Camp Skyline the opportunity to help shape and mold your daughter into a God loving and confident young lady with a wide range of new camp friends to help support her. We’re all thankful for the parents that, whether they realize it or not, change as much as their daughters do while their daughters are here at camp. On closing day of each session, it’s so fun to see the parents that were more nervous than their daughter on opening day. These parents are so excited over everything their daughter has accomplished during the one or two weeks she has been at camp.
To watch the campers grow while they are here is great, to see their parents grow in the confidence they have in their daughters by the end of the session……priceless. Yes, we are definitely thankful for the parents.
And of course, I’m saving my favorite for last. I’m most thankful for parents that I first met as young girls when they were campers or even counselors many years ago. To see campers or counselors return as grown up successful women and moms is very rewarding. To see them full of confidence and wanting their daughters to experience the same success they did years ago when they attended camp is a wonderful feeling that isn’t easily topped…… Until, we get to be thankful for the next generation of daughters that become moms.
with many thanks,
Larry
