Various styles of dance are incorporated into this activity. Campers will develop a deeper understanding of body movement, control and creativity all while having fun. At the end of the session each class period will perform during a night time activity. Occasionally the campers along with their counselors also perform during Church with a lyrical dance. And the admin have been know to join a class and perform at the end of the session too.
From forward rolls to round off back hand spring tucks, campers enjoy these classes with all different skill levels. We offer gymnastics three periods a day, which gives campers an option to be in an advanced class where they must be able to do a back handspring by themselves. This allows creativity within all levels. Over the 2 week period the counselors will create a routine for each class to perform during a night time activity. Campers in turn gain confidence in the new skills achieved.
In Musical Theater campers will find their voices as they are taught to sing, dance, project their voices, and work together to perform in front of their camp community. In the past we’ve had productions from musicals such as Annie, Willy Wonka and Frozen. It’s amazing what the campers can learn in such a short time. This would be a great introduction to theater class as well as a giving a more seasoned performer time to shine. And the entire camp loves seeing them on stage.
From motions, stunts, tumbling and jumps campers become more confident while they learn new skills in cheerleading. Throughout each session a routine is cultivated and is preformed for the entire camp during one of our night activities. There is no need to be an expert. Any skill level can enjoy this activity.
