A Year in Review: 2022

Here on the mountain, we spend many moments thinking ahead to the next summer. From Fourth session closing day to next summer’s First session Opening Day, we spend a lot of focusing on the summer that lies ahead. So it’s fun to take some time and look back on the awesome year that we have had in 2022. I wanted to pause and share some fun highlights.

In January, we started off the year with snow TWICE! Camp is BEAUTIFUL as a winter wonderland. We wish you all were here to see it for yourself. Imagine if we had a snow ball fight as a night activity!

We had two back-to-back Mother Daughter Weekends in April. We love hosting a weekend for families to have a fun wekeend at camp and spend more time together. If you are interested in attending our Mother Daughter wekeend next year, applications for that weekend will open sometime in January!

We welcomed our staff for orientation in May to fellowship, training, and learning all of the ropes of working at camp. These ladies work super hard while they are at camp so we are so thankful for the role they play in the lives of their campers.

And then the fun begins!!

Summer 2022 was an unforgetable one! We brought so many new and exciting things to camp for the first time.

• Our new activity: Photography!
• Our new night activity: Game Show!
• A brand new program for the Fourth of July: Olympics!
• And of course our brand new Summerplace!

We had a fun summer of club competions as well! Here are our cup winners for each session:

• Horseshow Cup: Mounties, Rangers, Mounties, Rangers
• Point Cup: Troopers, Rangers, Troopers, Troopers
• Spirit Cup: Rangers, Mounties, Mounties, Rangers

Our admin team spent some time at the beach in September to brain storm new things to bring to Summer 2023. We are super excited for you all to be here to see it for yourself! Speaking of TikTok earlier, you really want to check out our TikTok from our beach week of the four of us dancing to a popular song at camp. Trust me on this one.

The traveling was not over because we also headed to Hendersonville, North Carolina to work on a brand new staff website! We wanted to have a place set aside for those who may be intereted in learning more and applying to be a counselor can explore what it looks like to work at Camp Skyline. (Side note, we are hiring for our summer 2023 staff! You should apply at campskylinestaff.com)

Something that is super fun to look back on and made our 2022 one to remember was our 75th celebtration. Camp Skyline celebrated summer #75 in 2021 so we invited all alumnae back to camp to “relive their glory days.” This weekend went even better than we could have imagined. It was so much fun to hear everyone’s stories and meet some amazing past campers & counselors who still have such fond memories of their summers at Skyline. If you’re jealous of the fun, you don’t want to miss the next one coming in 4 years! Go ahead and update your alumnae information here so that we can stay up to date. Speaking of Alumnae, I almost forgot to mention a super fun addition to our full-time staff: Frances! You know her as our beloved camp mom (and don’t worry, that title isn’t going anywhere for her in the summer!) She joined us in the off season as our Alumni Relations Director and has had so much fun interacting with our Skyline family.

We have spent the last few months working on various things here around the office and finishing up a few fall shows. Thank you all for a fantastic year. We are excited for 2023 and the things to come. We can not wait to see what the Lord has in store. We’ll see you in the New Year!
