Happy first day of fall!
We have had fall weather galore this week in Mentone. Camp in the fall is definitely different than camp in the summer, but still fun nonetheless!
This fall Mentone has been blessed with TWO new food trucks!!! Seabolt’s, is within walking distance from camp and has incredible tacos. The owner actually used to work in the Skyline kitchen during the summer. Fontastic Foods, is just a quick drive towards the downtown area of Mentone. They offer tasty sandwiches, burgers, and pizza. Thursday night is pizza night at Fontastic’s, complete with outdoor seating and live music. ‘Food Truck Friday’ has become a lunch ritual in the office, as we are loving these new food options. We can’t wait for you to try them this summer!
Another fun thing happening this fall is the MERF House (Mentone Educational Resources Foundation) has gotten a new fence! The MERF House is a nonprofit that has a walking track for the community to use. Over the past two months, us Skyline girls have helped paint pickets for the new fence that now borders the outside of the track. This week we helped put the pickets up and the final product looks SO good! When walking the track it’s such a delight to see all of the different creations the community painted. And when you drive by your eyes are treated with a colorful feast of fence pickets! Ivy, Saralee, and I, also, helped put together a vivid bench that sits along the track and reads, “Be the reason someone smiles today”. As we go into this fall season we hope we all remember to “be the reason someone smiles today”, too!
