- The first Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade didn’t have any balloons or big floats, but it did have animals from the Central Park Zoo.
- One year, Thanksgiving was celebrated on the third Thursday in November, not the fourth.
- FORTY SIX MILLION turkeys are prepared for Thanksgiving every year!!
- Every year, a turkey is pardoned by the current president. George H.W. Bush started this tradition in 1989 and it has been kept up since then. These turkeys not only live past Thanksgiving, they have been to Disneyland and Walt Disney World!
- There is a 24-hour call and text message line available for help with cooking your Thanksgiving turkey!
- Arizona, Texas, Louisiana and North Carolina each have a town named “Turkey.”
- My personal favorite thing about Thanksgiving is pumpkin pie. 50 million pumpkin pies are eaten on Thanksgiving!
