Happy almost Halloween!!
Only 10 days away from National Candy Corn Day!! Candy corn is my personal favorite Halloween candy and I wanted to tell y’all a few fun facts about the history of candy corn.
-It was invented in the 1880s!! It is made by Jelly Belly with just a few ingredients - sugar, fondant, corn syrup, vanilla flavor and marshmallow creme, you can make it at home with this recipe!
-Candy corn used to be called “chicken feed”, which makes me laugh!
-More than 35 million POUNDS of candy corn are sold each year!
-They make multiple different types of candy corn now! Brown, white and orange for Thanksgiving. Red, white and green for Christmas. Red, white and pink for Valentine’s Day. White and bright pastel colors for Easter. And red, white, and blue for the 4th of July!
-One pound of candy corn used to be sold for 25 cents.
-In one eight-hour shift, jelly belly makes 28,000 pounds of candy corn.
Happy Halloween and hope you get to enjoy your favorite candy!!
