Helloooooo parents and welcome to tonights blog. But First and foremost let me tell everyone down south of here and around the coast good luck and hang in there. As a native Floridian I’ve been through a few of those nasty storms and I know how bad it can get with the floods. You guys are in our prayers and everyone please be careful if you have to drive through it on your way up here Thursday or Friday.
Well, as the weather just south of here was pretty wet, you couldn’t have asked for a better day up here on the mountain than the one we had today. The humidity was low, the breeze was blowing and it fun wa shad by everyone all day long. If you want to get a peek of how pretty our day was, just wait till you see the ending shot on tonights highlights video.
Our mountain biking class got to take a trip down to a place called Taylors Ford today. Its a spot up the road a ways where you can actually ride your bike through / across Little River. They all were prepared for the trip as they had their bathing suits on and took a little R&R time in the river to cool off before they headed back home. You could tell they were excited to use their new biking skills to make their way across the rocks and through the water. Be sure to ask your camper about it if she took mountain biking.
Gymnastics class was perfecting their back handsprings today and I’m happy to report that one of our campers (Peyton) did her very 1st successful backtuck. It may not sound like a big deal now, but trust me, it was a pretty big deal to her (I couldn’t have don’t it so I was impressed!!)
Horseback class had some achievements to day too. Would you believe this girls were jumping cross rails today in class and you could see the smiles on their faces from all the way across camp. Speaking of horseback, were gonna step things up a bit and move our end of session horse show thats usually on packing day (Thursday) to tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon to be sure we get it in before any rain heads this way later in the week. We’d hate to miss out on the horse show if Mother Nature decides not to cooperate with us on Thursday. I’ll let ya know tomorrow night who wins and how it all goes!
And while were talking about tomorrow, Can you believe tomorrow (Wednesday) will be the last day of classes for this session? It seems like only a few days ago that we were just getting to know each other on the blog as we started this journey called 1st session. Yep, all the campers will be getting in their last swings on the ropes, rides on the horses and finishing up all their projects in arts and crafts and pottery. It really was like a blink of an eye and this session has flown by (OK, I know for some of y’all back home it seems like a long time, but for all of us up here having fun, it really has flown by)
Tonight we had our Skyline Sing where each cabin put on their glitz and performed in front of the whole camp to a mash up of songs with different themes. I know during rest hour today, I was working out in camp and you could see all the cabins working on their routine getting in some last minute prep work for tonight. It all paid off as they looked like a million bucks up there and they all looked great. At the end of the night, the winning cabins were…….Joywood 3rd, Riverside 2nd, and Deweys Den was crowned the champion of Skyline Sing for 2017!!
Tomorrow night we’ll have our Showtime at Skyline where all the campers will get to show off their newly learned skills form their classes like gymnastics, dance, circus and more. The girls really love getting to show off what they’ve been working hard in for the last 2 weeks. We’ll be right there again getting all the shots for ya so you too can see how well they do. (Personally, I think “cooking class” should have their own “showtime” and make a little something for people that, you know….do stuff like write blogs every night!!)
Well folks, its already late so I’m gonna head off to bed and let you guys do the same. Like I said before, please be careful if you have to drive through any rough weather later this week and you guys down on the coast, hang in there, were thinking about ya.
Y’all have a good night, I think its time to punch the time clock outta here!
